Saugeen Shores police say stolen cremated remains have been returned.
Police say, back on on December 14th they investigated a break and enter at the T.A. Brown Funeral Home in Port Elgin where two sets of cremated remains were stolen.
Police say it was suspected that the responsible person, or people were unaware of what they had stolen, as the cremated remains were contained in nondescript boxes.
Saugeen Shores police say, today the owner of the funeral home found the missing cremated remains had been safely returned to the business property.
Chief Kevin Zettel says, “Hopefully this brings closure to the families already grieving the loss of a loved one,” adding, “This is especially magnified during the Christmas season.”
Police say the cremated remains were returned anonymously, and they say they don’t know if the person who returned the urns was involved in the break and enter on December 14th,
Police say the incident is still under investigation, and anyone with information about the break-in is asked to call Saugeen Shores Police at 519-832-2500 or report anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477)
