The Grey Bruce Health Unit says some issues with the province’s online and toll-free phone line vaccine booking system have been resolved.
The booking system launched on Monday to allow those age 80 and over and other priority groups eligible at this time to reserve appointments for a vaccine, but some people encountered problems at the outset.
Public Health reported the online portal did not reflect the current vaccine clinic schedule in Grey Bruce, while the phone system was directing people to the Grey Bruce Health Unit to book appointments and others to the Simcoe Muskoka 211 Community Connections helpline.
“There has been robust communication between the Grey Bruce Health Unit and the operators of the provincial online system to address the issues within hours,” a statement from the health unit explains.
Public Health says 1,500 appointments were booked in Grey Bruce on the first day, using up all available clinic times. Additional clinics will be added as more vaccines become available.
For those eligible for a vaccine at this time, appointments can be booked here or through the provincial toll free number 1-888-999-6488.
Health officials continue to ask people to not call Public Health or your healthcare provider for an appointment.
