Outpatient Lab Services at the Kincardine Hospital will move to the Kincardine Family Health Team this week.
South Bruce Grey Health Centre officials say starting March 28th, patients can go to the Hawthorne Community Clinic for blood work. It's located on the same property as the hospital.
Officials say the change is part of South Bruce Grey Health Centre’s (SBGHC) Budget Recovery Action Plan, which was released in late January.
It said the Health Centre is facing a significant financial challenge this year.
The hospital does not receive funding for outpatient lab testing, so they are now moving testing to a private lab funded by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
Lab testing for inpatients and emergency patients will remain in the hospital.
Lab services at the Hawthorne Community Clinic will be available from 7:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.
After April 1, hours will be extended to 3:30 PM.
The South Bruce Grey Health Centre's Kincardine site is the first of the hospital organization’s four sites to make this change.
Officials say dates for similar changes at the Chesley, Durham and Walkerton hospital sites will be finalized in the coming weeks.
