Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “, brought to you by Hal Wright Chevrolet-Cadillac-GMC-Buick on the Sunset Strip in Owen Sound.
It’s been a week since the passing of James Garner, who in my opinion, portrayed the greatest character in the history of television- Jim Rockford.
Friday nights at 9 pm in the 70’s, I was pretty easy to find, but definitely not to be disturbed as Rockford solved case after case with a style that was both brilliant and clumsy.
Adding to the cool of Jim Rockford was that he was a ” sports guy “.
In various episodes he conned an auto racer out of his vehicle, put a college football player behind bars, got a boxing manager out of a murder frame and caught some crooked individuals who were trying to swindle the owner of the Ottawa Otters Hockey team.
Plus, in one of the all-time best of the best, he and Rob Reiner, as Minor League quarterback Larry ” King ” Sturdivant, dodged the mob in what was an amusing, yet highly dramatic plot
Jimmy. …….You were good.
I’m Fred Wallace
