There are 15 new cases of Covid-19 in Simcoe County today.
Most of them are in New Tecumseth (total of 10), 9 of them are new cases reported at Simcoe Manor. The total at the facility is now 28 cases. There are 7 staff and 21 residents with the virus. Two people are in the hospital. There has previously been one death reported relating to Covid-19. There have been two other deaths at the facility and the health unit is waiting for lab results to see if they are related to Covid-19.
The rest of the new cases today are in Tay, Bradford, Innisfil, Barrie and Essa.
The local health unit says they are also investigating two cases at a manufacturing plant in the region, 5 cases at an agricultural facility (3 of the people live outside the district) and 3 cases at a construction site (one of the people lives outside the district).
Health officials say there are no school outbreaks in Simcoe/Muskoka, but there are 15 school “situations’ with a staff or student testing positive with some exposure to others.
There are a total of 550 high risk contacts who have been in isolation, 480 in schools and 60 community contacts.
