Prime Minister Justin Trudeau highlighted three Covid-19 benefits for Canadians in his address today.
Trudeau says the Canada Sickness and Caregiving Benefits opened for applications this morning.
The Sickness benefit gives up to $500 one week at a time for those who are sick or in self-isolation with Covid-19 and can’t work. The Caregiving benefit which does the same is for those looking after sick family members who have the virus.
“We’re moving forward with programs that go directly to Canadians,” he said.
Trudeau says the Canada Recovery benefit provides up to $1,000 for two-week periods for those not entitled to EI.
It will open next week.
