A Senior Climatologist with Environment Canada says the upcoming winter will look more familiar in Huron County.
David Phillips tells Country 104.9 News the effects of the warmer-than-normal summer along Ontario’s West Coast will creep into the cold season.
Because warm Lake Huron temperatures are expected to carry into October and November, Phillips says more snowfalls can be expected earlier, mainly throughout November and December.
A warmer lake means more moisture creeping into the sky and turning to snow as it hits cold air masses coming from the north.
Phillips expects lake-effect snow to make it presence known, likely until January.
He says this upcoming winter will likely have something for everyone, with slightly cooler temperatures, and more freezing on Lake Huron.
