Applications are now being accepted for Georgian College’s fall COVID-19 Hardship Bursary.
The COVID-19 Hardship Bursary is a $500 bursary intended to help provide immediate, short-term relief to Georgian students experiencing unexpected financial need due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The fund is to help students who are in urgent need of basic necessities. It is expected that before applying for support from this fund, students will have explored all other sources of emergency funding such as support programs offered by the Federal or Provincial governments, study period income,and OSAP.
Who is eligible?
Full-time postsecondary students (domestic or international) who remain enrolled in their program and who have emergency financial needs because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Students can only receive the COVID hardship bursary once.
Acceptable categories for assistance:
Unexpected or additional expenses based on individual needs or circumstances, as a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic; including food, medical, utilities, and other essential living costs.
Financial support for the purchase of required technology due to online delivery of classes (where financial need is demonstrated), including increased internet charges.
Students must have a demonstrated financial need directly resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. Expenses must be reasonable and supported with acceptable documentation.
The deadline to apply is Oct. 16th.
