The Simcoe-Muskoka District Health Unit says the region has definitely entered a second wave of COVID-19.
Dr. Charles Gardner said yesterday that 7 new cases were reported, bringing the monthly total so far to 132 cases in the region, which is more than July and August combined.
Meanwhile, the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board has confirmed another case of COVID-19 in one of its schools.
Sister Catherine Donnelly Catholic School, which is located on Hanmer Street in Barrie’s north end, has one confirmed case of COVID-19 in a staff member or student.
Two classes have been sent home to quarantine for two weeks, while the rest of the school remains open.
This is the fifth case of COVID-19 in a school in Simcoe County, the third with the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board.
The other confirmed cases have been discovered at: Father F.X. O’Reilly Catholic School, St. John Vianney Catholic School, Bear Creek Secondary School, and Twin Lakes Secondary School.

A new case of COVID-19 has also been found in a child at Locomotion Day Care Centre in Tottenham.
