The search for a 62-year-old Owen Sound man reported missing earlier this week has come to a tragic end.
Owen Sound Police say citizens walking on a path near the east shore of the Owen Sound Harbour observed a body in the water around 12:40 p.m. Thursday afternoon.
Police say the body was recovered by the Owen Sound Fire Department and has been identified as the missing person, Bruce McCartney.
Owen Sound Police haven’t provided any details about what may have led to McCartney’s disappearance, but say foul play is not suspected at this time.
The coroner attended the scene and a post mortem will take place tomorrow.
Police put out a public call for assistance in locating McCartney Tuesday after he was last seen leaving his east side residence Monday evening.
The search effort expanded today with an OPP helicopter and boats scanning the shoreline.
