Shawn Kaufman (46) of Walkerton became a 6-time club champion, shooting an 8-over-par 79.
When asking Kaufman after his round about his win, he replied;
” Well, the work at Ironwedge Target Greens Range the last couple years showed today. I didn’t play well at times, but, my floor has been raised where today was a 79. A couple of years ago that would have been in the 80’s. Irons and wedges were good all day. Fourteen of eighteen greens I was on in regulation, or no more than 12 feet off the green. I think my struggles were with tempo off the tee. I got quicker as the day went along. Always been a struggle of mine in tournaments. The practice at Ironwedge Target Greens Range has made my irons and wedges pretty solid — no troubles there. It’s an investment in your game to be a member at Ironwedge. History will show how many good players have been members of Ironwedge. It’s not a fluke that the Ironwedge range members have success. Nice to see John (Bubba) Hoffarth win 3rd place, he has definitely improved this year. ”

Hanover Raceway Announces Season Ending Award Winners – Posts Huge 91.7% Handle Increase
In a season full of challenges related to Covid 19 and the vast majority of fans watching the races from home, Hanover Raceway posted a massive 91.7% increase in betting handle for 2020 over their 2019 seasonal totals. Their handle totalled over $768,000 for their 15 race dates, up from $400,972.
Hanover Raceway General Manager Steve Fitzsimmons was very pleased with how the season went and with how his team stepped up to the many challenges it presented. ” I’m very proud of our Hanover Raceway team. I can honestly say that we have a fantastic group of employees, who all take great pride and care in their work and who have done a tremendous job in dealing with the many issues related to Covid 19 that we were faced with handling.”
Fitzsimmons also wanted to the thank the fans and the horsemen and women for their valued support of the race season. ” I want to give a huge thank you to the horsemen and women who have supported our race track with their attendance and the entry of their horses. We also appreciate you rolling with the punches on the protocols we have had to deal with together, to keep us safe. I know it was different for all of us, but you dealt with it without complaint. For that I say thank you.”
“To everyone at home and those who have been able to come to the track, thank you so very much for all of your support, encouragement and positive messages. With your support this season, we expect our wagering will be up over 90% compared to last year! Many of you have told us how much you enjoy our broadcast of the races, as well as our pre-game show and between races commentary. As we look forward to next season, we all share the hope that we’ll be able to have as many of you who wish to come to the race track, to be able to do so. Thanks again and stay healthy and safe and see you all in 2021.” Fitzsimmons commented.
