Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire ”
The Ontario Hockey League conducted a Conference Call with the 20 League General Managers yesterday.
The outcome of the session was to establish projected dates in order to progress towards the upcoming season.
The OHL, the Owen Sound Attack and Fred Wallace would like to stress the following dates are projected and they are not written in stone.
Government bodies and public health units could all factor in altering or delaying the dates I’m about to recite.
Here we go;
OHL Players are to report to their training camps on November 14th.
OHL Training camps are scheduled to commence on November 15th.
Any Player that needs to quarantine, for example Stepan Machacek in Owen Sound, must be in the city of his club team 14 days prior to the opening of Training Camps.
Two weekends of exhibition play will be conducted; November 20th-22nd and November 27th-29th.
Every team will play 4 pre-season games.
The caveat here is the league will schedule the exhibition matches and even though Owen Sound-Barrie has been a pre-season tradition for a quarter of a century, the league may in fact have the Attack play Guelph. Or Kitchener. Or Mississauga..
The projected OHL season will commence on December 1st and run to April 29th, followed by the playoffs and eventually the Memorial Cup.
The latest the OHL Playoffs would conclude would be June 14th
The Memorial Cup is to be staged in Ontario June 17th-27th
Again, these are the scheduled sequence of events.
The OHL, their teams and their fans hope that they roll out smoothly, but there’s no guarantee the projected dates will proceed as they are listed on my computer screen.
I’m Fred Wallace
