A transport truck driver is in hospital, following an slower-than-usual chase in Clinton.
Highway 8 was closed through Clinton early Wednesday, after police received reports of a slow-moving commercial vehicle through the Central Huron town.
According to OPP Constable Jamie Stanley, the transport truck was travelling roughly 8 kilometres an hour, and failed to stop for police.
Stanley tells Country 104.9 News spike belts were used to stop the truck, but the vehicle continued its slow movement on rims.
Reports say an officer was able to access the cabin of the transport truck and stop the vehicle, and noticed the driver in distress.
Stanley says it has yet to be determined whether the distress was medical, or drug related.
The transport driver has been taken to hospital, and the investigation is ongoing.
Constable Stanley says there was no threat to the public.
Some deflated tires & destroyed spike belts but otherwise this potentially dangerous incident came to a safe ending this morning. The driver failed to stop at a low speed before a #HuronOPP officer climbed onto the rig & managed to get the vehicle stopped east of Clinton. ^js pic.twitter.com/ZrPEiaEHLy
