The Calgary Flames have removed the interim tag & named Geoff Ward as their head coach.
Ward was named interim coach after the resignation of Bill Peters in late November.
In the Ontario Hockey League, Ward coached the Kitchener Rangers & Guelph Storm in the 1990’s.

Bouchard Gains Invite
Canada’s Eugenie Bouchard has received a wild card entry into the main draw of the French Open.
The entry comes after Bouchard reached the final of the Istanbul Tennis Championship last week.
Bouchard was awarded one of 8 wild cards into the women’s draw, which starts September 27th.
Henderson Withdraws
Canadian golfer Brooke Henderson withdrew from the LPGA Portland Classic due to poor air quality.
Henderson withdrew after the LPGA shut down the course and practice facilities.
A dense smoke advisory was in effect due to wildfires raging through California, Oregon, and Washington.
Henderson tied for 2nd at the LPGA Major last weekend.
