Ryan Wins Masterton
Former Owen Sound Attack captain Bobby Ryan was selected as the NHL’s Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy winner.
The Masterton award is given out to the player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey.
Ryan left and later returned to the Ottawa Senators lineup after publicly sharing his battle with alcohol issues.
The 33-year-old Ryan, who played 4 seasons for the Owen Sound Attack and is the all time Owen Sound franchise points leader, entered the NHL/NHL Players’ Assistance program in November.
Ryan returned to the ice February 25th against the Nashville Predators, then scored 3 times in a 5-2 win over the visiting Vancouver Canucks in his second game back.
