Assurance about the state of public transit safety today from the Province.
Transportation Minister Carolyn Mulroney assures that enhancements have been made in time for the return to school and work this fall.
“With proper health and safety precautions taken by both passengers and transit operators, we are confident that people can feel safe on their daily commute,” said Mulroney.
Enhancements include seat dividers on GO trains and buses, mandatory face masks for staff and passengers, sanitizer dispensers on every GO bus and at every GO Transit and UP Express station, and new health kiosks at dozens of stations.
More GO train and bus services will start on September 5th as more people return to school and work.
The Province is also providing municipalities with $15 million to cover the cost of enhanced cleaning for their own transit systems.
The health and well-being of all Ontarians and transit workers while taking public transit is a top priority.
