Grey Bruce now has zero active known cases of COVID-19 as the health unit reported one more recovery and no new infections on Tuesday.
It’s the second time the active known case load in Grey Bruce has reached zero over the course of the pandemic. Active cases also hit zero on July 16 — the day before the region entered Stage 3 of Ontario’s re-opening plan and a order from Grey Bruce Medical Officer of Health Dr. Ian Arra mandating mask or face covering use at indoor public spaces took effect.
There were a handful of new Covid cases in Grey Bruce in the weeks that followed the start of Stage 3, but active known infections have remained low — peaking at just six in early August.
Across Ontario, 100 new cases were confirmed by health officials Tuesday. Most were in the Toronto and Peel Regions.
Health Minister Christine Elliott said 30 of Ontario’s 34 public health units had five or fewer new cases, and 18 had none at all.
