Kearney resident Randy Mitson and his wife had quite the shock last night when a white streak came out of nowhere and exploded on their Jeep’s front bumper.
The couple were returning from a social distancing BBQ with friends around 10:15 pm Saturday and were just slowing down near the crest of the hill east on Highway 518 near #Kearney when it happened.
Mitson tells us the seemingly solid object exploded on the top of the Jeep’s passenger side front bumper.
He says it came down straight and fast – he guesses it was going at terminal velocity.

When he arrived home, he discovered it appeared as a white, gooey foaminess.
What did it turn out to be? Mitson says it was milk.
He tells Country 102 that he returned to the scene today and discovered a bag that hadn’t exploded, along with the residue of the one that hit his Jeep.

Mitson says there is a rock cut near where it happened, but he doesn’t think it was a case of kids throwing milk bags at vehicles, given the manner and tremendous speed at which it hit.
The 51 year old is a pilot and says he can envision a situation where milk may have been leaking and someone could have just pitched them out from a plane.

The impact was so great, he says, it shook the Jeep and he fully expected to at least see a dent or hole when he got home.
If you have any information about the occurrence let us or Randy know!
