Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “.
Tomorrow afternoon, Hanover Raceway presents another card with 10 races on the schedule.
And while there’s a mix of pacers and trotters throughout the program, it’s the trotters who get top billing this weekend, especially in Races 7 & 8.
Race 7 is the annual Walker Memorial Trot
Named to honor Allan and later Viola Walker, the Walker Trot originated at the old Owen Sound track in the mid 1970’s and has been conducted annually for more than 45 years, including a lengthy run at Hanover.
Allan Walker was known as a horseman’s horseman, and his children Bob, Jean, Larry and Paul have all been prominent names in the sport at every level.
The 2020 Walker Memorial Trot will have a field of 8 including ” Sicario ” driven by Brett Macdonald & trained by Richard Moreau listed as the early 2-1
favorite coming out of the 4 hole.
Following the Walker Trot, the 2020 Balanced Image Final will be staged.
In terms of purse money, the $ 50,000 Final ranks second only to the ” Dream of Glory ” final in terms of payout and prestige at Hanover Raceway.
The early odds suggest Denis St Pierre has the horse to beat with ” Sweet Soul David ” also drawing position number 4 from the starting gate.
Post time tomorrow afternoon is 2 pm and if you’re not among the 100 who can gain access to the track, you can follow the action at hanoverraceway.com
Have a great weekend.
I’m Fred Wallace
