A 44-year-old Hanover man faces numerous drug related offences after being arrested in Owen Sound following a brief foot pursuit by police.
Owen Sound Police say early Monday morning officers observed a man in the 700 block of 2nd Avenue East wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant held by the Hanover Police Service.
Police confronted the 44-year-old man, but he took off on foot through residential properties to try to evade arrest.
After a brief foot chase, police officers caught up with the suspect and arrested him.
City Police say a motor vehicle in possession of the accused was seized, and officers obtained a warrant to search it.
Police say the vehicle search turned up fentanyl, cash, two prohibited weapons and other items they say are “indicative” of drug trafficking.
In all, police say the street value of drugs and cash seized exceeds $20,000.
The 44-year-old Hanover man, who has not been identified by police, faces numerous charges including possession for the purpose of trafficking.
