A Non-Golf Tournament is underway to raise money for the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation.
Normally the Southampton Residents' Association (SRA) has a golf tournament to raise money for the hospital, but COVID-19 has prompted them to cancel the event that had been scheduled for August 13th.
Association President Bill Bowden says the Hospital Foundation is facing a significant shortfall in anticipated donations this year.
Bowden says anyone can participate, even if they've never touched a golf club, and it's open to SRA members and non-members.
It's an online fundraising campaign where donation amounts will be recognized in different categories including “Golfer,” “Non-Hole Sponsor,” and “Groundskeeper.”
Donors at the $1,000 level will be recognized with a “Hole in One” certificate.
Each $1,000 raised represents one hole, with a goal of 18 holes for the regular tournament.
You can donate up until August 13th.
A virtual Awards Ceremony is planned with real awards including Saugeen Shores “Chamber Bucks” and Healthcare Lottery tickets.
To see tournament rules and participate, go to www.smhfoundation.ca/non-golf or look for it on the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation website (https://smhfoundation.ca/) under Events and Fundraisers.
Participants should indicate “Golf” in the comments section of their donation where they can also indicate “Awards” to participate in the draws and enter foursome names.
