The Saugeen Shores Fire Department and the Ontario Fire Marshal's Office has been able to do some “live fire training,” and “origin and cause training” this week. (July 13-17)
A media release from the Town says thanks to a donated structure from a local resident, firefighters and investigators were able to train and suppress sets of fires that resemble real life scenarios.
It also allowed the Ontario Fire Marshal's Office a chance to train new staff by recreating real fire scenes and circumstances to determine the cause and origin.
Saugeen Shores Fire Chief Phil Eagleson, notes in a statement, “It has been a challenging year to schedule training. This has been a local opportunity for our firefighters to learn from experts from across the province. We are proud to host and work with the OFM staff.”
The training took place in the area of Carlisle St. and Concession 14 and wrapped up Friday July 17th.
