Bruce Power's Visitors' Centre will not re-open until next year.
The centre has been closed since early March because of the pandemic and the Tiverton-based company says it has decided to keep it closed to allow for an extensive renovation project.
The Bruce Power Visitors' Centre is expected to remain closed until the first quarter of 2021.
“Our intention is to utilize this time to undertake some upgrades and targeted renovations at one of our busiest external facilities,” says David Abbott, Director, Community and Indigenous Relations. “While we're disappointed the Visitors' Centre won't be open for the very busy summer season, we're excited about updating the facility to better reflect the innovative work being done by our people and exploiting today's technology.
“We will be announcing a number of replacement programs to enhance public education of our role in producing nuclear power and medical isotopes in addition to new, virtual educational initiatives.”
Last year, more than 20,000 people made use of the Visitors' Centre at Bruce Power.
