Saugeen Shores police have charged an Owen Sound man with flight from police and possession of stolen property.
Police say on Sunday, May 31st an officer noticed suspicious vehicle and occupant parked near a home in Port Elgin.
They say the plates on the vehicle were reported stolen from an address in Georgian Bluffs.
Officers followed the vehicle on Goderich Street and tried to conduct a traffic stop but they say the driver refused to stop.
According to police, instead the driver accelerated in a dangerous manner towards Southampton narrowly missing two police cruisers in the process.
Officers did not engage in a pursuit, but did identify the driver.
That afternoon members of the Grey Bruce OPP located the man at a motel in Georgians Bluffs and arrested him.
A 34 year old Owen Sound man faces charges related to possession of property obtained by crime, flight from police, dangerous driving and driving while prohibited as well as failing to comply with probation.
He was released with a court date.
