Grey Bruce's Medical Officer of Health says he plans to keep reopening plans in 'lock step' with the province.
Dr. Ian Arra says, “We'll see the government announcing a plan for reopening the province in different stages.”
Arra told Grey Bruce's Board of Health at its most recent meeting, (May 22) that's “Scientifically the most appropriate approach.”
He says he wants opening to be unified and consistent across different sectors, health units and counties.
“If we have excellent numbers, and we reopen more sectors than our neighbouring health units we might find people coming to our health unit for whatever their activity is, whether it's vacationing or shopping and we might be turning our area into a magnet,” says Arra.
He adds, “It is of critical importance to stay in lock-step with the province and other areas around us.”
Locally, he says Public Health's reopening plan is a living document to be “Evaluated and enhanced by input from the sub-sectors and the activities and the businesses we have locally in anticipation of the provincial plan.”
Arra says the area will be ready to “hit the ground running' by being proactive and preparing for provincial announcements.
