Provincial Police say a number of drivers have been charged with stunt driving after being clocked going well above the posted speed limit on Highway 6 in South Bruce Peninsula.
Grey Bruce OPP say between May 22 and 24, five motorists were charged with stunt driving.
The fastest of the bunch was a 21-year-old from Scarborough who police say was clocked going 145 kilometres an hour on Highway 6 where the speed limit is 80 km/h.
Drivers from Stratford and Brampton, as well as two area motorists from South Bruce Peninsula and Arran-Elderslie were hit with stunt driving charges as well. All were driving in excess of 130 km/h on Highway 6.
“Grey-Bruce OPP want to remind motorists that excessive speed in one of the leading causes of deaths on our highways,” a statement from provincial police explains.
Police say all the drivers had their licences suspended and vehicles towed and impounded for seven days.
