With COVID-19 keeping the Owen Sound Farmers Market closed for the longest period of time in 100 years, it's now offering an online store.
A media release from the market says this will allow people to buy their favourite products for Saturday pickup at the market building.
Market co-manager (and City Councillor) Richard Thomas says as they get their delivery methods streamlined, they'll add more vendors to the store in the coming weeks.
You can find the store at www.owensoundfarmersmarket.ca or on the market's Facebook page.
It's open from Sunday morning until Thursday at noon to allow people time to shop.
Producers will deliver their items to the market on Saturday morning, where a team of packers will assemble orders for pickup Saturday afternoon.
They're asking people with cars to park at city hall and place a piece of paper with their last name on the dashboard where a volunteer will read their name, retrieve their order from the market building, and place it in the car.
Order pickups will be alphabetically staggered:
If your last name begins with A – I, your pickup time is 1-2 p.m.
If your last name begins with J – R, your pickup time is 2-3 p.m.
If your last name begins with S – Z, your pickup time is 3-4 p.m.
The online store was created with the assistance of Greenbelt Markets and utilizes a food hub platform designed by Local Line in Waterloo.
