While the annual Bayshore Race in Owen Sound is not going ahead this summer because of COVID-19, a business that has long supported it is still making an effort to help the Owen Sound Regional Hospital Foundation raise funds.
Owen Sound Subaru has started an initiative known as Matching Your Gift. The car dealership on Highway 6/21 will match, dollar-for-dollar, any contributions up to $5,000 made to the hospital foundation through the initiative.
The Bayshore Race is one of the main fundraising events for the hospital foundation and Owen Sound Subaru has been a longtime supporter of it.
“We're so grateful for the initiative by Owen Sound Subaru,” says Amy McKinnon, executive director of the Owen Sound Regional Hospital Foundation. “It's a great way for us to recoup some of the losses from the actual physical race.”
McKinnon acknowledges the cancellation of events the Foundation relies on for funding, such as the Bayshore Race, will have an impact on its bottom line this year. She says the generosity of Owen Sound Subaru is greatly appreciated to ensure local healthcare continues to get the support it needs.
“Healthcare in our local environment matters and having the right tools for our local healthcare providers is so important,” explains McKinnon. “We are so grateful to Owen Sound Subaru for honouring their commitment to the race, and giving it a bit of spin.”
McKinnon says the funds raised through the Matching Your Gift initiative will go to support the highest priority needs of the Owen Sound Regional Hospital.
