Saugeen Shores Police have arrested a man they believe has been pretending to be a police officer and pulling people over.
Town Police say on Tuesday an officer was on general patrol and observed a black Ford F-150 pick-up truck that was outfitted with a police lights package.
Saugeen Shores Police say a vehicle stop was conducted on Concession 4 and a male was taken into custody without incident.
According to a police release, the truck was found to have a police light bar on its roof. Red and blue strobe lights were also located on the upper windshield, as well as embedded in the grill and rear of the vehicle.
A police speaker, microphone and radio were also found inside of the truck.
Saugeen Shores Police investigators suspect the male used this truck to make false vehicle stops on people in southwestern Ontario.
“Police are requesting any person who suspects they had contact with this vehicle, to report the incident to the Saugeen Shores Police or their local service,” a release explains. “This Ford F-150 had distinguishing factory 'FX4' decals on the box of the truck.”
A 38-year-old Seaforth man has been charged with personating a police officer.
The occurrence remains under investigation.
