Hours of operation are being reduced at one of Grey Bruce's three COVID-19 assessment centres.
South Bruce Grey Health Centre says the assessment centre at the Kincardine Hospital will now be closed on weekends, but continue to operate from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday.
In a release, the hospital organization says volumes have been relatively low at the assessment centre since it opened on March 19.
“And more recently there has been a significant drop in volumes on the weekends,” the statement from South Bruce Grey Health Centre explains. “To date, 364 people have been seen in the assessment centre in Kincardine, and 197 tests have been completed.”
Only 18 of the 88 laboratory confirmed COVID-19 cases in Grey Bruce to date have been in Bruce County municipalities.
Aside from long-term care homes in Grey Bruce where universal testing is occurring over the next two weeks, general testing criteria remains restricted to anyone with new or worsening respiratory symptoms.
In addition to the COVID-19 assessment centre at the Kincardine Hospital, there are also sites in Owen Sound and Hanover operating daily. The assessment centre outside the Owen Sound Regional Hospital is open from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., while at the Hanover and District Hospital it is 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.
