The community within Maple View long term care home in Owen Sound is feeling optimistic it is beating COVID-19.
A large portion of residents are considered recovered and a number of staff as well.
At the height of testing in the home, 22 of 29 patients had tested positive for COVID-19.
Maple View Executive Director Tracee Givens says now, nine residents are considered completely resolved. She says the ones who are still considered positive aren't showing symptoms. Given the timing since testing positive, she is hoping by Monday two more residents will be considered resolved, by Wednesday the 29th, one more may be resolved and a handful more by the 30th.
Of the 34 people working in the home, 15 tested positive, 16 negative and the results of three are still out. At least nine of those cases have resolved.
Maple View is the only long-term care home in Grey Bruce that has declared an outbreak. Ministry policy dictates that an outbreak be declared as soon as the first case shows up.
As of Friday evening, Grey Bruce has had 70 confirmed positive cases — 34 are considered to have recovered. There have been zero deaths in the region attributed to COVID-19.
