A handful of local companies are teaming up to make plastic face shields for health care workers.
Bruce Power, NPX Innovation, the Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library and Launchpad, are using their 3D printers to produce the shield to help fill critical shortages of personal protective equipment.
In a media release, Bruce Power explains that earlier this month, Health Canada reached out to companies and institutions for help creating PPE.
Bruce Power and NPX have already built 300 face shields that have gone out to health care facilities with another 2,000 in production.
They say they've also made hundreds of ear protectors – used to help prevent chafing from wearing face shields.
NPX has been playing a key role in finding 3D printers, medical supplies and plastic products.
