The Hanover Fire Department is purchasing a critical piece of equipment that will allow firefighters to remain in a hostile environment for a longer duration.
The 44 thousand-dollar 6000 psi air compressor and fill station will be used to fill the self-contained breathing apparatus bottles firefighter use.
Fire Chief Jeff Dentinger says the current air compressor is running too hot and in need of replacement.
The newer model will ensure that bottles can be filled at a much faster pace, which will be very beneficial when battling large blazes such as structure fires.
Dentinger is looking forward to the new equipment.
The compressor will fit into the existing physical location and is smaller than the present equipment footprint.
He says it is designed to be quieter and more efficient than the present machine and will have a longer service life as it is designed to fill the present capacity of bottles that the Hanover fire Department presently uses.
This will be very welcomed, as the current equipment requires breaks between filling the bottles in order to allow the compressor to keep up.
