Saugeen Shores police say they're investigating reports of traffic signs being defaced.
Police say it's an arrestable offence under the Criminal Code and the Highway Traffic Act.
Police posted a photo on twitter of a defaced stop sign outside Walmart.
It has a cardboard sign covering it. The message on the sign is discriminatory against cottages and advertises a desire for them to leave town.
Mayor Luke Charbonneau reacted to the report on Twitter saying “This is beneath us. Anger doesn't protect anyone from COVID-19. It does make this situation worse for everyone.”
Charbonneau goes on to say people should follow the advice of Public Health Grey Bruce to protect themselves, their families, and their community.
Police say incidents can be reported to 519-832-2500 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
