Ontario Premier Doug Ford says the province's publicly funded schools will not be re-opening May 4th.
Ford made the comments in a press conference Tuesday afternoon as the legislature voted to extend the province's state of emergency another 28 days, until at least May 12th.
The Premier says this does not mean the school year is over. The Minister of Education will provide more details in the coming days.
This marks the second time school closures have been extended amid the COVID-19 pandemic since the Ontario government first ordered the shutdown of all publicly funded schools on March 12.
