Grey Bruce's Medical Officer of Health Dr. Ian Arra says he wants to reassure the public that all COVID-19 cases now identified to Public Health are in compliance with the requirement to isolate until recovery.
Arra says in a statement, “We contact these individuals on a daily basis for monitoring.”
In recent weeks, there have been posts by people on local social media alleging various people were not complying with orders.
Arra explains, “Where any reliability issues exist relating to the requirement to provide truthful information to health care providers, and in turn doubts about potential non-compliance, public health is working with local enforcement agencies to ensure compliance.”
Arra says Public Health requires people to honestly and reliably provide accurate information about their symptoms.
Arra says, “Doing the right thing can help ensure everyone’s safety during this pandemic. Providing false, inaccurate, or incomplete information will result in more rigorous Public Health measures,” he says that could include Orders under the Health Protection and Promotion Act and penalties for non-compliance.
