A second employee at an Owen Sound long-term care home has tested positive for COVID-19.
The Grey Bruce Health Unit says the health-care worker at Maple View long-term care facility, a female in her 50s, is at home self-isolating.
A spokesperson for Southbridge Care Homes told Bayshore Broadcasting News Thursday a “small number” of staff who worked directly with the first employee who tested positive were already at home in quarantine and being monitored by Public Health.
The home was put into automatic outbreak as per Public Health directives in response to the first case. The Southbridge spokesperson said this included residents being quarantined in their rooms until the Grey Bruce Health Unit suggests further change.
In addition to the long-term care worker, a second COVID-19 case in Grey Bruce was also confirmed by the Health Unit Friday. A female in her 50s tested positive. Details for the case are still pending.
In all, there have now been 17 known cases of COVID-19 in Grey Bruce. Six of those people have already recovered.
Seventeen negative tests came back in the past 24 hours.
Across the province, 462 new cases were reported by Public Health officials today. The total count of known cases to date is now up to 3,255 in the province. Of those, 1, 023 people have recovered. There have been 67 deaths.
