Tenneco has temporarily closed its production facility in Owen Sound after an employee at the plant was potentially exposed to COVID-19
The company's senior manager of Global Communications Mike Alzamora says the facility was closed Wednesday morning out of “an abundance of caution” to allow for a deep-cleaning.
The Owen Sound plant will remain closed the remainder of the week, and then re-open next Monday.
Tenneco is in the process of winding down operations in Owen Sound. Alzamora says the company expects to stop production at the plant around May 1.
In October 2018, Tenneco announced it would be closing the Owen Sound facility and another production plant in Georgia, as part of a restructuring initiative to respond to changing market conditions.
