Owen Sound Police have identified the woman who died in a house fire on Saturday (March 21) evening on the city's east side.
Police say an investigation has been conducted by the Office of the Fire Marshall and the Criminal Investigations Branch of the Owen Sound Police Service.
Police, firefighters and Grey County paramedics responded to the fire shortly after 7:30 that evening and arrived to hear the homeowner may have been still be inside.
Officers tried to enter the home, but were forced back by heavy smoke.
Owen Sound firefighters arrived on scene and were able to contain the fire.
Police say a search of the residence was conducted by firefighters and an unconscious female was discovered in the home.
Paramedics performed CPR to try and revive her, but were unable to.
The lone occupant of the residence, 63 year old Deborah Hood, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Police say the investigation has determined the cause of the fire is not suspicious in nature and as such, have concluded their investigation.
