Exciting news for five senior Hanover Air Cadets, the youth are the recipients of some highly competitive scholarship training programs.
Robert Hann and Keelan Zuber are the recipients of Power Pilot Scholarship, Ben Irvine has been selected for the Glider Pilot Scholarship while Justine Lennon and Ryan Bester are the recipients of the Advanced Aviation Technology Courses.
The selection process for all of these courses is highly competitive as there are a very limited number of positions.
Upon completion of the Flying Scholarships the cadets will be licensed to fly while the other cadets will gain valuable hands-on experience in possible future careers.
All five of these Warrant Officer Second Class cadets are very excited about the opportunity before them
For 17-year old Robert Hann it is a dream come true and if all goes as planned he will have his pilot license by Summers end.
As for 16-year old Justin Lennon, he says the scholarship will assist him with his goal of pursuing a career in the military as a technologist.
Squadron Captain Rick Henry is incredibly proud of all five youth, saying he believes this is the largest number of cadets selected for these courses in one year for the Hanover Squadron.
Funding for these opportunities have been provided by the Air Cadet League of Canada as well as the Department of National Defense.
The cadets will receive all of their training free of charge and will receive some training renumeration.
Both Hann and Lennon strongly encourage youth to consider joining the Air Cadets.
Hann calls the Air Cadets an amazing program that is free to join and has allowed him to travel to various places across Canada as a cadet.
The Royal Canadian Air Cadet program is open to Canadian citizens and permanent residents 12 to 19 years of age.
