Grants to Bruce County and Saugeen Shores from Ontario's Municipal Modernization Program could create streamlining services in two different areas.
County senior planner Daniel Kingsbury says the county has received $300,000 for improvements and streamlining which will modernize the permit system along with other improvements to the Planning and Economic Development and Transportation Services departments.
He says the county will also be talking to communities on issues residents have said are important, such as housing and business community development which will eventually lead to a new County Official Plan coming in 2021.
In Saugeen Shores, the provincial program has approved funding of up to $50,000 towards an independent third-party reviewer of the Lean Consulting and Efficiency Review to be completed by mid-September.
The Municipal Modernization Program is part of the provincial government's plan to help municipalities lower costs and improve services for local residents and businesses over the long term.
