Kincardine's Queen Street bridge will be getting a summer makeover.
Kincardine council has approved an expenditure of just over 2.6-million-dollars to rehabilitate the bridge in south Kincardine.
Public Works Director Adam Weishar says the work is expected to start this summer and be completed by mid-September.
However, it means both lanes will be closed to vehicle traffic but pedestrians will still be able to use the bridge.
When the time comes, Weishar, detours will be up for vehicles.
He says if they had kept one traffic lane open at all times, the project would take longer and be more expensive.
Weishar points out if they didn't do the work now, in less than ten years the bridge would have to replaced entirely.
The rehabilitation will give the bridge an additional 25-to-30-year lifespan.
The contract has been awarded to Finnbilt General Contracting of Stratford.
