Bruce Power is once again a presenting sponsor of the Lake Huron Gran Fondo which will be held on August 16, 2020.
The event hosted by the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation (SMHF) already has 250 riders signed up which Foundation Executive Director Tracy Murray says is tracking higher than last years numbers.
Last year the Fondo raised $180,000 for the Foundation and Murray hopes with every rider fundraising $100 that this years event will surpass $225,000.
Chris Mercanti, Manager of Community and Indigenous Relations for Bruce Power says the Tiverton site has a huge cycling community and Bruce Power is pleased to come back as presenting sponsor.
“One of our big values is safety first and another one is health and wellness and this kind of ticked those boxes and we saw how the Gran Fondo is run and then we saw the emphasis on physical fitness, health community; it just made all the sense in the world to us,” he says.
In addition Bruce Power has committed to giving the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation $50,000 a year into 2023. Their Gran Fondo Sponsorship is part of this $50,000 commitment.
Murray says funds raised from last years Gran Fondo allowed the Foundation to purchase two new hospital beds, a portable ultrasound machine, and a patient Wander Safety System.
