The Academy Awards ceremony is coming up and The United Way of Bruce Grey and Galaxy Cinemas Owen Sound is hosting Oscar Night At the Movies.
This will be the local fundraising event's 11th year in support of the United Way's Backpack Program. The program provides roughly 2,300 backpacks full of school supplies to children of different age groups whose families can't afford to buy new ones each year.
Awards Night at the Movies will center around the broadcast of the 92nd Academy Awards, including the Red Carpet portion of the broadcast, shown on the big screen at Galaxy Cinemas Owen Sound.
There will also be red carpet interviews in Owen Sound for guests arriving at the theatre along with paparazzi to take their picture.
Communications & Fundraising Coordinator Heather Anderson says “It's a change to get dressed up if you like, or not. You can walk the red carpet in your everyday clothes or dress up.”
New this year is the Oscar Pool, For $5 you will get a link to the United Way's online Oscar Pool. Guess who will win which awards and the person with the most correct guesses will win 50 per cent of the proceeds raised by the pool participants.
People can access the ticket site through www.donatetoday.ca
There will also be multiple fundraising initiatives including a Silent Auction and Best Picture draw for chances to win prizes.
