A funeral will be held for Long-time Owen Sound councillor Peter Lemon this morning.
Lemon passed away on January 17th at Grey Bruce Health Services in Owen Sound. He was 76.
Lemon was a city councillor for over 30 years, from 1986 to 2018.
Over that time, he was involved in many community projects, including working to create non-profit housing, waterfront heritage projects, accessibility and transit projects, the creation of the Black Heritage Carin at Harrison Park, bringing back the Noma light display in the Festival of Northern Lights, and was a member and volunteer with the local Legion.
A Memorial Service for Lemon will be held at St. George’s Anglican Church, 1049 – 4th Avenue East in Owen Sound today (Feb 4th) at 11a.m.
Following the service there will be refreshments at the Royal Canadian Legion, 1450 – 2nd Avenue West in Owen Sound.
Interment in Greenwood Cemetery is expected at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Community Waterfront Heritage Centre or the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #6, Owen Sound are welcomed as an expression of sympathy.
