The second day of job action for the Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario saw all elementary schools in Grey and Bruce closed today.
Teachers could be found at 8 various locations picketing throughout the morning and afternoon.
Lauri Nevins a Hillcrest Elementary School teacher and union treasurer, says that although job actions that close school can inconvenience students and parents, they are a necessary evil.
“I hope parents see the long term gain for the short term pain right now,” Nevins says. “And if the Government is concerned then I suggest they come back to the table.”
ETFO members withdrew any involvement in extracurricular activities today as part of their job action.
Nevins says this will impact clubs and teams at Bluewater schools.
Another job action by elementary school teachers is being planned for this Thursday, with catholic teachers striking tomorrow.
