Kincardine is heading in the right direction when it comes to annual building statistics.
Kincardine's Director of Building and Planning Michele Barr presented the information report on the growth for 2019.
She says in 2019, 319 permits were issued, valued at just over 58.3-million-dollars.
Included were permits for construction of 121 residential units.
By comparison only 76 residential units were created in 2018.
Barr says there was a surge in dwelling units as developers took advantage of single-dwelling, infill lots to create multiple unit dwellings.
She says people are moving to the community and they need places to live and that's what has bumped the construction in the past year.
Barr points out 2020 looks good too, especially for pending plans of more residential unit builds.
She says two developments alone will create hundreds of units.
One development will have over 400 units while the other will have 46 single family units “with some multi-residential on it.”
