Today, Brockton will appoint a new Councillor to fill the vacancy left by Chris Oberle who resigned on November 12th.
Mayor Chris Peabody says there are seven candidates being considered for the job.
Beginning at 10 a.m. Council will begin the candidate selection process.
Each candidate will be provided with ten minutes to address Council followed by a 12 minute question and answer period.
Following this, Council will vote on their preferred candidate, this may result in a few rounds of voting.
Charlie Bagnato (former mayor), Tim Elphick, Phil Englishman, John Fruin, Carle Kuhnke, Greg McLean and Henry Simpson are all vying for the vacant councilor position.
(On January 20th, Paul Crysler withdrew his application as a candidate.)
Peabody says before the end of the day Brockton will have a new councillor.
He adds he is very pleased with the large number of candidates from a wide variety of backgrounds who have come forth eager to serve Brockton.
The Brockton Special Council Meeting will take place at the Bruce County Administration Building in the Council Chambers beginning at 10 am.
