The Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation (SMHF) has received a guaranteed money commitment from the Port Elgin Masonic Lodge #429.
Master of the Lodge, Tom Boulding was on hand to present a cheque of $2,000 to SMHF on Friday, January 3rd, coupled with a promise to provide an additional $10,000 over the next five years.
Boulding says with a growing population in Saugeen Shores and in some cases, an aging population, it's imperative that the Southampton Hospital be a part of the health care in the community.
On hand for the ceremony was the chair of the hospital foundation, Mary Jo Arnett who says the $10,000 commitment over the next five years is welcomed.
She says, it never ceases to amaze her that “everytime we put out a call because we're short for something or we're raising for capital equipment, the community steps up.”
Mason Boulding says the Port Elgin Lodge Masons raise their money through its meetings and specific fundraisers such as the upcoming Super Bowl Party.
