It's the end of an era in Brockton's Building Department, Bayshore Broadcasting News Reporter Robyn Garvey says the municipality is saying good bye to the head of this department.
After 27 years on the job, Chief Building Official Terry Tuck is retiring on a very high note with provincial recognition from his peers.
Tuck is the recipient of this year's Bill Henderson Outstanding Service Award by the Ontario Building Officials Association.
The award says OBOA Past President Matt Farrell recognized Tuck's outstanding contribution, dedication and professionalism in his career.
Farrell adds, Tuck has also served as mentor to many young building officials including himself.
Tuck says he was floored when he received the news of the provincial recognition.
He adds that retirement will be bittersweet.
While he is looking forward to the next chapter in his life, Tuck says he will miss the challenges of the job, especially now with so many upcoming changes as provincial building codes are being harmonized with the national building codes.
Mayor Chris Peabody commends Tuck for his years of service and commitment to Brockton.
Tuck retires on Christmas Eve.
